HEY where is MY inheritance?
During the
recent administration of a family will I was reminded of just how
critical it is to be a family member in good standing when it comes
time to distribute the estate. As I pondered these things I was
reminded of the many souls who would one day, expect an inheritance as
they pass from this life into the next.
How many people have you met that will
confidently affirm “Yes, I believe in God and have lived a good life.”
Asking, you would likely be told that “Of course I am going to heaven;
I have never killed anyone or done anything really bad. I just don’t believe in getting too serious about religion.”
Sadly, many people think that just because they were
relatively good throughout life or because they simply believe in God
that there will be an inheritance awaiting them in heaven. I’ll tell
you the truth, before I ever put stock in that theory I would want to
see the will for myself just to be certain. It is written, “Not
everyone who says to Me (Jesus) ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of
heaven, but only those who do the will of My Father in heaven!”
You might say, “Could I see the will for myself then?”
Alright, open the pages of the old Bible, and let us see what your
Creator has promised for your inheritance.
In the book of John chapter 14, God tells us “Let not your
heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me (Jesus). In
my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also.”
WOW, that sounds good but are there any prerequisites?
Again, in the book of John we find a qualifier. “Jesus answered and
said unto him, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born
again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ ”
Jesus then said, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, ‘Ye
must be born again’--For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but
have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He
that believes on Him is not condemned: but he that believes not is
condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only
begotten Son of God.”
“BUT as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to
become the sons (and daughters) of God, even to those that believe on
His name.”
Jesus explains that receiving Him means to invite Him in as Lord of our
lives; to repent, ask forgiveness of our old ways and study to be
followers of Christ. So tell me, did you really think that those who
are not the children of God would still receive the family inheritance?
See Revelation chapters 20 & 21 for the reading of the
will. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life
shall enter the kingdom of God.
Is your name written there?
